About the role

  • Accounting Specialist handling financial records and reporting for WESSLING Consulting Engineering. Collaborating with external partners and overseeing financial processes and teams.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for recording and posting all business transactions in the general ledger and sub-ledgers, and for managing accounts receivable, accounts payable and fixed-asset accounting in accordance with the requirements of the HGB (German Commercial Code)
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements including profit and loss statements and balance sheets in cooperation with external partners (e.g., tax advisors or auditors)
  • Planning, managing and monitoring payment transactions, liquidity and cash management, as well as analyzing cost and performance accounting to support corporate management
  • Ensuring the proper operation of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, DATEV) including data and master-data maintenance, as well as reporting and controlling functions
  • Developing and implementing efficient accounting and finance processes, including digitization, standardization and automation of workflows
  • Advising management on financial matters and preparing financial reports and KPIs to support company governance and decision-making
  • Potential responsibility for leading and further developing the accounting department

Requirements

  • Degree in finance or economics, ideally with a focus on accounting, controlling or taxation, or completion of vocational training with further qualification (e.g., Bilanzbuchhalter / certified balance sheet accountant)
  • Several years of professional experience in financial accounting, accounting or controlling, preferably in an SME or consulting environment
  • Solid knowledge of the HGB (German Commercial Code), cost and performance accounting and corporate financial management
  • Confident use of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, DATEV) and advanced Excel skills
  • Structured, solution-oriented working style with analytical thinking and a high degree of personal responsibility
  • Experience in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements as well as in reporting and KPI management
  • Knowledge of tax and balance sheet issues and experience collaborating with tax advisors and auditors
  • Strong communication skills, team orientation and a confident manner at all hierarchical levels
  • Proficient German language skills for both social and professional use (at least C1 level in spoken and written)
