About the role

  • Project Manager leading utility engineering initiatives for Aecon, a Canadian infrastructure leader. Ensures stakeholder commitments and project success through collaboration and technical expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Establish customer relations and business opportunities as a representative of the Company.
  • Proactively seek out new opportunities.
  • Support Estimating as required - attend project specific technical and commercial meetings; review tender documents for technical requirements and ensure bid compliance; close tenders with Estimating leadership.
  • Identify project concerns proactively and alert management of potential risks on assigned projects.
  • Provide technical and commercial input on how to minimize and mitigate project impacts.
  • Assist in acquiring talent and retention to support Major Projects including Technicains, Engieenrs, and Coordinators.
  • Assist in the sourcing and recommendation of vendors/manufacturers, subcontractors & Equipment to support Major Projects.
  • Collaborate with other departments of Aecon Utilities to support each pursuit.
  • Collaborate with other divisions of Aecon.
  • Collaborate with Joint Venture Partners including schedulers, designers/engineers, lawyers, estimators.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders including manufacturers, vendors, Municipalities, Utility Owners.
  • Be an example and advocate for Aecon’s safety culture & carry out site safety inspections.
  • Available to travel to and/or locate at project assignments across Ontario and beyond as required.
  • Host weekly meeting to update the Senior Leadership Team on the progress of each pursuit.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-10 years of industry experience.
  • Technical background with professional accreditation (P.Eng./ CET) or equivalent industry experience.
  • Knowledge of utility engineering and / or construction requirements and activities.
  • Past experience working on utility projects.
  • Past experience working on P3/EPC projects.
  • Read, analyze and interpret and provide recommendations on early-stage technical design drawings and specifications.
  • Contracts - Commercial knowledge, experience with cost management and change order Management.
  • Negotiating skills, composure under pressure.
  • Scheduling experience and analysis skills.
  • Cost analysis, control and reporting.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Excellent Written and oral communications & Presentation skills.
