About the role
- Damage Prevention Technician ensuring safety compliance and quality audits for excavation projects in utility services. Visiting sites and collaborating with excavation teams in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Assure compliance with Code Rule 753 and promote safe excavation practices
- Follow strict Utility, State and Federal guidelines relating to damage prevention
- Wear assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) and company uniform
- Follow safety, quality, and operational procedures
- Participate in safety meetings
- Hand out educational materials and public awareness items to excavators
- Visit 3rd party excavation sites and construction zones regularly
- Collect data using handheld tablet or other collection device
- Show courtesy and professionalism when dealing with customers and other employees
- Complete Work Orders on assigned dates
- Travel to visit sites on occasion
- Provide timely reports and documentation to management regularly
- Escalate issues and questions to Supervisor when necessary
- Maintain a satisfactory attendance record
- Keep assigned vehicle clean
- Report equipment and vehicle issues immediately
- Communicate with dispatchers
- Other duties as needed
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- 1 year of continuous work with the same employer, and/or 6 or more months working outdoors
