About the role

  • Plan, author, edit, and publish CDRL deliverables (DD-1423) including user/O&M manuals, admin guides, installation and integration guides, test plans/reports, SOVT procedures, release notes, white papers, and decision briefs
  • Develop and maintain style guides and templates; enforce consistency, traceability, and configuration control across program artifacts
  • Translate engineering inputs (ICD/SRS/SEP/EIP, DoDAF views, drawings, BoMs, rack elevations, cabling) into clear, Navy-compliant documentation and illustrations
  • Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) packages: format/curate SSP, SAP/SAR, POA&M, CONMON artifacts; prepare eMASS-ready content and evidence indices
  • Ensure correct markings and dissemination controls (CUI, distribution statements, classification per Security Classification Guides and DoDI 5200.48); perform OPSEC reviews
  • Capture and publish IPT/WIPT minutes, action logs, and CCB/PTRB decisions; maintain CM status accounting linkages in CMPro/SharePoint
  • Coordinate peer, technical, and quality reviews; drive redlines to closure with engineers, IA, test, install, and logistics teams; track CDRL deliveries to schedule
  • Build visual content (process flows, data flows, network diagrams) and interactive help/IETM content as required; enable digital accessibility and searchability
  • Support documentation from requirements and design through test, installation, cybersecurity accreditation, and sustainment; travel to labs, shipyards, and fleet concentration areas as needed

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance required
  • 10+ years technical writing/editing for enterprise or tactical IT/network programs
  • Strong portfolio of Navy/DoD documentation
  • Hands-on with engineering and cyber artifacts (requirements, interface/data models, test procedures/reports, RMF evidence)
  • CDRL lifecycle management experience
  • Proven accuracy with markings, CUI handling, distribution statements, and export-controlled content
  • Skills/Tools: MS Office (advanced Word/Excel), Adobe Acrobat/FrameMaker or MadCap Flare, Visio/draw.io, Jira/Confluence, SharePoint, CMPro (or equivalent), basic DOORS read/use, graphics capture/annotation
  • Education: BA/BS in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, Information Systems, or related field (equivalent experience may substitute per GDIT policy)
  • US Citizenship required
  • Ability to travel (Limited CONUS/OCONUS travel; 10-25% travel)
