About the role

  • Addressing and resolving in-service issues related to airplane Flight Controls and Proximity Systems
  • Work directly with airline customers to analyze flight controls and proximity systems issues
  • Develop and perform tests to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
  • Support emergent issues and important airline meetings off-hours; occasional off-shift work to support 24/7/365 fleet operations
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation schedule and variable shifts as required
  • Support all Boeing Commercial Airplane models in-service and under development (747, 767, 777, 787, 737NG, 737 MAX, 777X, next generation)
  • Develop and document moderately complex electronic and electrical system requirements
  • Design hardware, software and interface specifications
  • Test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements
  • Assist in monitoring supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance
  • Solve problems concerning fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle
  • Research specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Bachelor’s in Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering preferred)
  • 8-12 years related work experience depending on qualification; 8+ years with a Master’s in Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering
  • Must be flexible, with a high tolerance for organizational complexity
  • Ability to work with partners across different cultures and time-zones
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and track record of working successfully under pressure
  • Very fluent in spoken and written English and have excellent communication style
  • Ability to mentor and teach subordinates and partners
  • Willing to support a 24/7 on-call rotation schedule and work variable shifts, including weekends or overtime
  • Experience working with Boeing 7XX series, flight controls and proximity Systems engineering (preferred)
  • Proficient in using ATA Specification aircraft maintenance documentation, including manuals, and service actions (preferred)
  • Computer skill proficiency, including aircraft-related systems and proprietary software systems (for example, PDM) (preferred)
  • Experience of Boeing aircraft’s airframe/mechanical in airline industry (preferred)
  • Fluent with MS Office products with knowledge of MS Project (preferred)
