About the role

  • Software Engineer I developing and transforming technology landscape at Travelers. Completing engineering tasks including development, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Travelers is seeking a Software Engineer I to join our organization as we grow and transform our technology landscape.
  • The individual will complete intermediate end-to-end engineering tasks for specific system assignments, including developing, analyzing, configuring, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, health monitoring/alerting, and implementing based on user or system design specifications.
  • Additionally, the individual will participate in troubleshooting, conduct impact analysis, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Perform analysis, design, development, and configuration functions, as well as define technical requirements for assignments of intermediate complexity.
  • Participate with the team to perform analysis, assessment, and resolution for defects and incidents of intermediate complexity, and escalate appropriately.
  • Work within guidelines set by the team to independently tackle well-scoped problems.
  • Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Three years of programming/development experience preferred.
  • Experience with Cloud Engineering is a plus (AWS preferred, with emphasis on Node.js Lambdas, AWS Gateway, S3).
  • Experience with application performance monitoring tools like Dynatrace/AppDynamics/Grafana/Influx stack or ELK stack.
  • Experience developing, operating, and tuning systems with high availability and high throughput.
  • General understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls.
  • Experience with cloud services like AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure is a plus.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform is a plus.
  • Experience with one or more of Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in work experience.
  • One year of programming/development experience.
