About the role

  • Assist the Clearance & Collateral Management business in providing legal and regulatory advice
  • Serve as key legal advisor on significant business transactions, regulatory and corporate projects, strategic initiatives, joint ventures and other collaboration arrangements
  • Provide legal advice in connection with product development, including drafting, reviewing and negotiation of associated documentation
  • Provide advice on digital and technology solutions developed by the Clearance & Collateral Management business
  • Negotiate legal agreements and develop and update templates for these products
  • Work closely with Compliance, Credit and Risk partners and other internal lawyers
  • Review and draft policies and procedures for the Clearance & Collateral Management business
  • Monitor and advise on industry developments
  • Review marketing materials and thought leadership articles
  • Participate in industry advocacy as part of relevant industry groups

Requirements

  • Law degree from a recognised law school
  • Qualified solicitor or minimum 1-5 years of post-qualification experience
  • Experience negotiating with and advising financial institutions on collateral management, global custody, clearing and securities finance (advantage)
  • Experience negotiating complex service agreements with institutional clients
  • Experience advising senior business managers and control functions on risk, credit, operational and compliance issues
  • Experience with a foreign financial institution (advantage)
  • Excellent written and oral communication and drafting skills; Cantonese and Mandarin advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with colleagues and business people at all levels
  • Ability to process and explain complex legal issues to internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrates solid judgment in evaluating complex legal and business issues
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Self-starter with ability to function independently
  • Highest standards of integrity and ethics
