Manage high-severity Directors & Officers and Employment Practices Liability claims at QBE; lead investigations, litigation strategy, and reserve setting.
Responsibilities
Manage the complete investigation, evaluation and resolution of assigned portfolio of complex claims emanating from Management and Professional Lines (MLPL), specifically Directors & Officers and Employment Practices Liability for Private Company portfolio
Engage, direct and manage external advisors and vendors including legal service professionals, discovery vendors, data and security experts and consultants
Evaluate and negotiate resolution of assigned claims in a timely manner within appropriate authority and in accordance with laws, regulations, statutes and DOI compliance
Drive high level of customer care, responsiveness, and satisfaction when managing assigned claims to deliver superior claim outcomes
Collaborate with outside counsel to formulate litigation strategy and ensure effective litigation management
Oversee projects and planning surrounding departmental initiatives to achieve strategic objectives
Analyze, develop and determine appropriate case reserves on all assigned claim files and recommend changes where necessary
Advise on MLPL specialization areas, serve as subject matter expert, participate in industry seminars or author articles
Collaborate with Underwriters to identify, price and negotiate terms for novel or complex risks and participate in sales calls and RFPs
Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, forecasting resource needs/costs and properly accounting for expenses
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Required Juris Doctor (JD)
5-7 years relevant experience
Experience handling management and professional liability matters including Directors and Officers Liability, Professional Liability, Fidelity, Pension Trustee’s Liability, Data-Protection and Privacy Liability
Advanced experience in other segments of management and professional lines industry (agency, retail or wholesale brokerages, third-party administrator, risk management, legal or other roles)
Ability to manage high severity, complex claims and coordinate external counsel and vendors
Financial and business acumen and awareness of financial responsibility
Properly document investigation findings and preserve evidence in accordance with internal and external laws and procedures
Ability to analyze, develop and determine appropriate case reserves and recommend changes to ensure actuarial accuracy
Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future sponsorship
