Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain firewall systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Assist in implementing firewall changes and configurations in accordance with established policies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve firewall-related connectivity issues in collaboration with IT teams and end users.
- Support the review and documentation of firewall rules and policies.
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for firewall-related events.
- Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Maintain awareness of emerging threats and technologies in the firewall and network security space.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, technical designs, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Review and validate security related Change Control requests.
- Provide off-hours support for operational issues as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in firewall operations, network security, or a related IT infrastructure role
- Working knowledge of firewall technologies (Palo Alto, Checkpoint preferred)
- Familiarity with security protocols such as TCP/IP, IPSec, NAT, and ACLs
- Understanding of VPNs and basic network security principles
- Exposure to DDoS protection technologies (e.g., Arbor, Akamai) is a plus
- Experience with firewall monitoring and policy management tools (e.g., Algosec, SolarWinds) is desirable
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Effective communication and documentation abilities.
- Security or Networking certifications are a plus.
