About the role

  • Establish and lead the company’s procurement function, aligning strategies with business objectives and long-term growth plans.
  • Develop and implement procurement policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements (including GxP, cGMP, and SOX), and industry standards.
  • Drive supplier relationship management and long-term strategies for critical materials and services.
  • Lead complex supplier negotiations, including contract manufacturing (CMO) and clinical research (CRO) organizations, to achieve cost optimization and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee vendor selection, onboarding, and ongoing vendor performance management.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, financial terms, and service-level agreements in collaboration with Legal and Finance.
  • Enhance and optimize Procure-to-Pay (P2P) systems and tools (e.g., Coupa, NetSuite, SAP), driving automation, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Ensure governance over approval workflows, purchase order compliance, PO management, and data integrity.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (R&D, Clinical Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Accounting, Finance, and Legal) to anticipate and meet material, equipment, and service needs.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement processes and vendor management best practices.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, compliance, efficiency, and strong business partnership.

Requirements

  • Biopharma or life sciences industry experience required; exposure to both clinical and commercial environments a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Life Sciences, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive procurement/sourcing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, contract management, and internal controls.
  • Deep experience negotiating complex contracts with CRO and CMO and achieving measurable cost savings and risk mitigation.
  • Proven ability to design and implement scalable procurement functions, including P2P systems (e.g., Coupa, NetSuite, SAP).
  • Experience with Procure-to-Pay (P2P) systems and driving automation and scalability.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements including GxP, cGMP, and SOX.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-growing biotech environment.
