About the role
- Lead comprehensive cost optimization of AWS and Azure cloud services, infrastructure, and technology spend for all Arkose Labs products and services while maintaining operational efficiency
- Analyze AWS and Azure billing data, usage data from asset inventory and monitoring utilization data to assess Engineering teams' cloud consumption and identify wasteful spend
- Perform financial analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in spending and financial performance across products
- Conduct deep-dive investigations of cost overruns and optimization opportunities through data-driven analysis
- Develop and maintain cost optimization strategies, roadmaps, and forecasting models
- Automate analysis, data collection, recommendation generation, and implementation tracking using serverless products (AWS Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge; Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grid), Python, and Terraform
- Create and maintain cost attribution models to specific cost centers and automated reporting dashboards
- Implement cloud cost governance frameworks and best practices
- Engage with Engineering & Cloud Platform teams to drive optimization implementation and provide technical recommendations for cost-effective architecture improvements
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Establish KPIs and metrics to track cost optimization progress and benefit realization
- Develop cost optimization playbooks, documentation, training materials, and conduct knowledge sharing sessions with engineering teams
- Report to the Director of Engineering, Pune and collaborate closely with SVP of Engineering and other engineering leaders globally
Requirements
- Infrastructure & Cloud technology industry experience (6+ Years)
- Proficient in AWS and Azure infrastructure and services with hands-on experience in cost management tools (AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management)
- Proficient in Python, AWS/Azure CLI, Terraform, and GitHub workflows (4+ Years)
- Proficient in data analysis tools e.g., Excel, SQL (4+ Years)
- Experience with cloud architecture patterns, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify patterns, and draw actionable insights
- Ability to translate complex technical data into business insights
- Experience in Engineering, Cost Optimization, and reducing Cloud spend
- Knowledge of Engineering practices and cost optimization methodologies
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Computer Science) or similar degree in Computer Science
- Cloud certifications (AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, Kubernetes) preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering and application teams
- Track record of delivering measurable cost optimization results
