About the role

  • Responsible for lifecycle project accounting from project initiation through project close-out
  • Create projects in Oracle, track project progress and budgets, validate billing in support of PM and FSSC
  • Initiate financial project close-out, reconciliation of Accounts Receivable and Unbilled/Unearned Services
  • Participate in project accounting kick-off meetings, particularly for large and red zone projects
  • Drive Subconsultant flow-down of billing requirements and support subcontract management
  • Partner with the Project Manager and project team to establish and update project budgets and verify contract variations
  • Maintain Oracle contract funding and archive contract documents for audit support
  • Work independently to manage own project portfolio and analyze project cost and revenue
  • Review BAC, EAC and ETC values on the PSR and dashboards and evaluate project KPIs
  • Analyze unbilled transactions and collaborate to resolve unbilled revenue issues
  • Create and workflow Credit Memos and Invoice Cancellations for approval
  • Ensure draft invoices from billing agents follow contract requirements and obtain PM approval for corrections
  • Monitor billing team service level agreements and billing schedules
  • Provide guidance to Billing Agents on transfer of project costs in compliance with US accounting practices
  • Maintain project data flex fields (PFFs) ensuring data quality and control standards
  • Attend project review meetings to report status of project financials and follow up on action items
  • Remain current in project accounting principles, software applications and subject matter
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or closely related discipline (or demonstrated proven equivalent experience)
  • 1 year of relevant post education experience in project accounting, project contracts and change order documents
  • Knowledge of project accounting principles, practices, and methods and their application to project work-related issues
  • Analytical mindset with ability to exercise sound independent judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions with financial implications to the company
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to apply learned subject matter and technical knowledge to reach conclusions from data collation, documentation, statistical analysis
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an accounting and non-accounting audience
  • Self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team
  • Proficient with technical writing, office automation and accounting software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, MS Excel, pivot tables, formulas, data format/sort/filter, predictive models, and tools
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by Company’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Oracle EBS
