About the role

  • Lead the execution of the Fiber Design Action Plan, ensuring the successful rollout of FTTH, long-haul, hyperscale connectivity, and fiber ring design services.
  • Develop and publish the Fiber Design Delivery Playbook, including SOPs, intake procedures, QA/QC checkpoints, permitting coordination workflows, and lessons learned.
  • Partner with the BD team to align operational capabilities with client pursuits, proposals, and bundled offerings.
  • Track and report KPIs specific to the fiber program (BD meetings, proposals, pilot project success, training completion, workflow adoption).
  • Establish Stantec as a leader in fiber design delivery through operational excellence and client-focused service.
  • Manage active fiber design projects from planning through close-out, ensuring adherence to scope, budgets, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate project resources, schedules, and deliverables across supporting teams
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and ensure high-quality deliverables are provided to clients.
  • Lead client communications, calls, and status updates; provide exceptional customer service in alignment with BD strategies.
  • Ensure project close-out deliverables are completed, documented, and submitted to clients.
  • Forecast and manage capacity for fiber design projects as the program scales.
  • Lead cross-training initiatives to equip teams with fiber design skills (FTTH, long-haul, hyperscale connectivity, and small cell fiber rings).
  • Oversee adoption of software and tools for fiber design (GIS, CAD, Lightspeed, permitting platforms).
  • Coordinate subcontractors and vendors specific to fiber program delivery.
  • Develop and manage fiber project budgets; track expenses and financials.
  • Provide monthly financial reports and forecasts for fiber delivery performance.
  • Identify, request, and manage change orders as needed.
  • Oversee invoicing, collections, and AR specific to fiber services.
  • Serve as the operational point of contact for all fiber program delivery.
  • Coordinate bundled fiber offerings with Environmental, Energy, and Community Development teams as needed.
  • Work hand-in-hand with BD to develop integrated proposals and client campaigns that highlight fiber as part of bundled services.
  • Incorporate client and internal feedback into continuous fiber program improvement.
  • Implement quality control processes to ensure fiber deliverables meet or exceed industry standards.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of fiber projects.
  • Develop permitting matrices, readiness checklists, and risk mitigation SOPs tailored to fiber.
  • Proactively address risks to minimize delays in fiber design delivery.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in fiber design delivery (FTTH, long-haul, hyperscale, fiber rings).
  • Proven ability to create and scale operational programs, including SOPs, playbooks, and training curricula.
  • Experience managing fiber projects across multiple jurisdictions, including permitting and utility coordination.
  • Proficient in MS Suite; experience with GIS, CAD, and workflow tools required.
  • Experience with online document systems, such as Oracle and Siterra, is a plus.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, or related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in telecom, fiber, or utility infrastructure program/project management with financial responsibility.
