About the role

  • Finance Analyst at The Works improving and embedding financial processes to reduce risk and drive clarity. Engage in reporting and control activities with a proactive approach.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting to empower informed decision-making.
  • Take charge of the property and capex balance sheet and related P&L lines.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset register for the Group, covering all property, plant, and equipment.
  • Ensure systems allow property assets to be reported at cost or valuation, with all component accounting entries recorded accurately.
  • Collaborate with the financial processing team to understand property-related costs, such as utilities, and suggest improvements to drive cost efficiencies and enhance controls.
  • Lead the month-end process, including posting journals and completing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Analyse monthly reports, providing variance analysis, and foster a close working relationship with the commercial finance team.
  • Contribute to the preparation of interim and annual financial accounts and support the year-end audit process.
  • Provide financial analysis and interpret information to make strategic recommendations to management.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and reforecasts.
  • Continuously seek to improve processes.
  • Support the wider financial reporting team as needed.

Requirements

  • Part Qualified Accountant
  • Experience of working in a financial reporting team
  • Experience of capex and property balance sheet topics desirable
  • Retail experience desirable
  • Proactive, you demonstrate a willingness to learn and ask for support when required.
  • Demonstrating a flexible approach to work.
  • Can do attitude and resilient, you can meet tight deadlines and cope with multiple and varied tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • System skills, proficient in Excel.
