Responsibilities
As an Engineering Team Manager, you will manage and grow a team of talented engineers, focusing primarily on people - their development, motivation, and performance.
You'll help shape how we work and scale as a team, creating an environment where engineers thrive, collaborate effectively, and deliver their best work.
You'll work closely with the Head of Engineering to strengthen our structure, ensure alignment with business goals, and support the professional growth of every engineer in your team.
Lead, mentor and coach a team of engineers - guiding them through challenges, supporting their growth, and fostering a culture of trust and accountability.
Shape the environment where engineers can do their best work - improving clarity, removing blockers, and helping teams deliver consistently.
Partner with other Team Managers to align priorities, identify cross-squad dependencies, and ensure consistency across engineering.
Working closely with our Talent Acquisition team to attract and hire great people - helping shape role descriptions, participating in interviews, and ensuring new hires are onboarded effectively.
Own your team's development conversations, competency reviews, and personal development plans, ensuring progression and recognition are fair and transparent.
Build strong relationships with Product and other stakeholders to translate business goals into clear, achievable outcomes.
Help shape and maintain engineering standards - technical quality, secure development practices, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Champion change - modernising how we deliver software and fostering a mindset of learning, feedback, and innovation.
Requirements

Comfortable driving cultural and process change that improves how teams work together
Solid foundation in software engineering - ideally with experience in PHP (Laravel), Vue.js, and AWS (ECS, EC2, RDS, SQS, Lambda), or similar technologies
Understands modern development practices - CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and version control
Pragmatic approach to technical decision-making - focusing on value, quality, and delivery
Understanding of standards such as Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001, SOC II, or GDPR, and their implications for secure development and delivery
