About the role

  • Develop actionable campaign plans in consultation with the Chief Policy & Communications Officer to execute on the organization's policy and political strategy
  • Scope campaigns, engage content experts across CEDP, and ensure alignment with the organization’s policy and political strategy across internal staff and external partners
  • Oversee policy research and power mapping to inform campaign strategy
  • Lead planning processes to develop advocacy tactics
  • Manage coordination across legal, programs, communications, and community teams to ensure campaigns are effectively implemented
  • Identify and elevate opportunities to share the lived experiences of CEDP clients in a way that informs advocacy and policy work
  • Track campaign effectiveness, monitor milestones, and document lessons learned for continuous improvement
  • Work in close collaboration with communications staff to align messaging, amplify community voices, and shape public narratives
  • Execute coalition and stakeholder engagement strategies; build and maintain strong relationships with partner organizations and lobbyists
  • Partner with lobbyists, join key meetings with elected officials, and provide policy expertise and client stories to build support
  • Provide training and implementation support for newly passed policies and develop tools and resources to help internal teams apply policy changes
  • Track and assess the implementation of select priority policies supported by CEDP, documenting progress and surfacing lessons to strengthen future advocacy

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional experience in policy, advocacy, law, or government (e.g., legislative staff, agency, or public sector policy role)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Colorado’s political and policy landscape
  • Demonstrated success executing policy and advocacy campaigns that influenced decision-makers and built public support; experience in housing or economic justice policy strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of policymaking processes at the state and local level, including legislative advocacy and coalition-building
  • Experience developing and executing strategies with lobbyists, coalitions, and advocacy partners
  • Proven ability to coordinate complex projects across multiple internal teams and external partners
  • Strong research and policy analysis skills, including the ability to conduct or oversee power mapping to inform strategy
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex policy issues into compelling messages for diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with elected officials, partner organizations, and community stakeholders
  • Experience working in partnership with communications teams to align messaging, amplify community voices, and shape public narratives
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across diverse personal and professional backgrounds, with a deep commitment to advancing social and racial justice and equity
  • Candidates must reside in Colorado, ideally within the greater Denver Metro area
  • Maintain current vaccination status in keeping with CDC recommendations (in-person work sometimes required)
