Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans to meet organizational goals
Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors
Plan and execute fundraising initiatives and manage special events
Manage the development budget and track progress toward financial goals
Provide leadership, support, and training to the development team and volunteers
Raise awareness of the NSC's mission through community outreach and communications
Ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting on fundraising activities and donor information
Build and maintain donor relationships
Lead cultivation and stewardship efforts with mid-level donors
Partner with the executive director to steward major donors
Articulate and achieve team-level goals related to donor retention and increased gift size
Develop strategies to grow the NSC's donor community
Maintain an on-going knowledge of donors and potential donors in the community to maximize support for the organization
Develop effective personal solicitation programs, providing leadership to staff, board and committee members
Oversee planning, organizing, executing, and evaluating all fundraising and special events
Create and execute event plans that identify key staff and volunteer roles, meet budgetary goals, and are completed within established timelines
Develop strong networks within the local community, cold call or develop and grow prospects for potential income streams, event sponsorships, and volunteer opportunities
Coordinate all logistics and fundraising materials for donor-related events, including friend-raisers and other cultivation opportunities
Responsible for helping to identify new donors and organizing initiatives to solicit funding and sponsorships
Strengthen solicitation campaigns, event planning, grant writing, planned giving, and direct mail programs
Research opportunities for public grants, foundation, and corporate funding
Requirements
BA/BS degree in business administration or related field from an accredited college or university
A minimum of 5 years of proven development/fundraising experience in the non-profit sector
A minimum of three years of supervisory experience
Exceptional written and oral communication and strong interpersonal skills
Proven ability to build relationships and motivate people
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize with attention to detail
Experience with donor databases and CRM software required
A strategic and analytical mindset
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience in writing grant proposals with demonstrated success in securing foundation and corporation funding
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to maintain confidentiality and informational privacy
High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism required
Must be flexible, highly organized, creative, and detail-oriented
Ability to set and meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and foster a positive work environment
Creative problem solving, sound judgment, and critical thinking skills required
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms
Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends is necessary
