About the role

  • Communications Manager leading a mission-driven communications strategy for Terre des Hommes Netherlands. Overseeing brand management and media engagement to enhance advocacy and fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy that enhances TdH NL’s reputation, advocacy influence, and fundraising impact
  • Translate complex research, programme, and advocacy content into accessible, engaging stories that highlight our mission and impact
  • Ensure all communications reflect TdH NL’s values, tone, and strategic priorities
  • Oversee brand management and ensure all content (digital, video, social media, and print) is creative, consistent, and emotionally engaging
  • Manage crisis communications and sensitive issues with clarity and professionalism
  • Lead proactive media engagement and build strong relationships with journalists and opinion leaders
  • Expand the use of multimedia storytelling to increase reach and engagement
  • Manage and mentor a team of communications professionals, setting clear goals and providing regular feedback
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communications strategies using data and insights
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on communications performance and outcomes
  • Ensure the website is up to date, functional, and aligned with strategic goals
  • Oversee webcare and ensure alignment with the Ethical Content Policy (ECP)

Requirements

  • Proven experience in developing and executing strategic communications that enhance visibility and impact
  • Strong ability to translate complex content into compelling, mission-aligned storytelling
  • Experience leading multi-channel communications, including digital, media, and creative campaigns
  • Demonstrated success in multimedia strategy, including video and visual storytelling
  • Strong understanding of brand management and audience engagement
  • Experience working with programme teams to ensure communications reflect evidence-based impact
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to inform strategy
  • Excellent relationship management and influencing skills
  • Experience in issue and crisis communication
  • Fluency in Dutch and English, both written and spoken
