About the role

  • Carbon Manager leading sustainability initiatives focused on embodied carbon management in infrastructure projects. Collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams and driving carbon reduction efforts for BAM's Energy Scotland team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on carbon management activities across multiple projects within our Energy Scotland team
  • Act as the primary liaison for managing supply chain partners in carbon reduction efforts and ensuring alignment between project goals and BAM’s sustainability strategy.
  • Identify and manage opportunities for carbon reduction
  • Plan, coordinate, and chair monthly carbon meetings to discuss implementation progress
  • Develop and maintain a broad and comprehensive understanding of opportunities for carbon reduction
  • Work collaboratively with the wider supply chain team to identify and implement whole life carbon reduction opportunities
  • Compile construction emissions data and prepare reports for submission using client tools
  • Provide analytical support to quantify potential carbon savings as they are identified throughout the project development
  • Develop and periodically update and issue the Carbon Management Plan (CMP) and embodied carbon assessments
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to keep documentation up to date
  • Report on project advancements, carbon reduction opportunities, and actions required to wider stakeholders as required
  • Lead the development and testing of innovation opportunities identified by the client team
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by tracking and sharing best practices
  • Contribute lessons learnt to the wider BAM UK*I business through sharing of case studies and other knowledge transfer activities

Requirements

  • Strong background in sustainability, embodied carbon assessment, or environmental management in infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Understanding of carbon management principles and PAS2080
  • Understanding of industry best practices, opportunities and methods for reducing carbon emissions from infrastructure construction
  • Familiarity with carbon accounting principles, life cycle assessment (LCA), and relevant software tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams, including design, construction, and client teams.
  • Strong project management, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with attention to detail.
