About the role

  • Develop and own the brand positioning, messaging frameworks, and annual brand marketing plans for Backcountry and Competitive Cyclist.
  • Define and protect the unique brand voice, visual identity, and customer experience across all touchpoints.
  • Lead long-term strategies that enhance brand equity while also driving measurable business growth.
  • Oversee all brand campaigns and seasonal go-to-market launches across digital, retail, PR, social, and experiential channels.
  • Partner with merchandising, analytics, creative, eCommerce, and performance marketing teams to deliver compelling product launches and storytelling.
  • Build and manage a roster of athletes, ambassadors, and community partners; create partnership and sponsorship strategies.
  • Lead strategy and execution of events, sponsorships, and grassroots activations to engage communities.
  • Own social strategy and oversee creation of organic content to grow engagement, reach, and cultural credibility.
  • Drive brand PR strategy, media outreach, and corporate communications in partnership with internal and external PR resources.
  • Build, inspire, and mentor a high-performing brand marketing team; report to the VP of Marketing.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in brand marketing, with at least 5 years leading teams and owning brand strategy at a senior level.
  • Proven track record of building strong consumer brands in retail, outdoor, cycling, sports, or lifestyle categories.
  • Expertise across social media, influencer/athlete marketing, events, partnerships, and PR.
  • Strong experience developing and executing campaigns that drive both brand equity and measurable results.
  • Excellent leader and collaborator able to influence at all levels and rally teams around a shared vision.
  • Deep passion for outdoor recreation, cycling, and the communities our brands serve.
  • Hands-on experience in brand storytelling, partnerships, and go-to-market execution within premium, lifestyle, or consumer-facing brands.
