Assist the Communications Operations Manager with daily operations and support Supervisors in team management. Ensure compliance and develop training programs for effective KPI attainment.
About the role
- Join the Operations team and execute daily securities lending processes with Manager, Securities Lending Operations, Trading Desk and other Operations Associates
- Assist in maintaining positioning by processing returns from counterparties and supporting the loan recall process
- Ensure timely loan and return settlement and resolve related issues
- Collaborate with traders, product managers, engineering and other operations teams to ensure effective and timely trade flow and settlement
- Communicate with counterparties via email or on calls to execute loans and recalls, and resolve discrepancies
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in transactions
- Perform daily and monthly reconciliation of records and assist with audit requests
- Support front-office operations related to corporate actions and daily market movement
- Support billing and month-end processes
- Represent Wealthsimple in interactions with external counterparties and cultivate industry relationships
- Support the development of operational procedures as Wealthsimple builds out its Options business
- Support the treasury team with cash movements, including billing
- Support the onboarding of new counterparties
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience working at a broker-dealer, bank, capital markets firm or pension fund
- Capable of operating within tight deadlines and possess good business judgment
- Strong multitasking and time management skills
- Background in finance, accounting, business or a related technical field
- Strong technical skills in Excel, VLookup, pivot tables (macro is a nice-to-have)
- Passion about technology, specifically fintech
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong collaboration skills and a positive attitude
- Bias for action and a strong sense of curiosity
- Strong communication skills; experience working with front office (trading) and external counterparties
- Interest in learning about the Securities Lending business
- Nice to have: Securities lending background
- Nice to have: Working towards CFA, FRM
- Nice to have: Settlements background, experience with CDS(PTM) and DTCC
- Nice to have: Experience with Arrow, Equilend, FIS Loanet
- Nice to have: Proficiency in SQL and data analytics
