About the role

  • Flight Control Engineer developing flight control algorithms and architectures for next-generation drones. Collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective UAV systems implementation.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end development of flight controllers for various UAV platforms (from concept through simulation, prototype implementation, autopilot integration, to flight testing)
  • Design, modeling and optimization of control and navigation algorithms
  • Development of mathematical models for flight mechanics, system dynamics and aerodynamic effects
  • Conducting simulations in MATLAB/Simulink or comparable tools to evaluate control laws
  • Specification, preparation and execution of flight control tests (SIL, HIL, ground tests and flight tests)
  • Analysis, documentation and continuous improvement of controller performance based on real flight data
  • Close collaboration with aerodynamics, flight mechanics, embedded hardware & software, and test & integration teams
  • Contributing to the development and optimization of the autopilot stack
  • Researching and re-implementing current scientific approaches to modern flight-control methods

Requirements

  • Degree (M.Sc. or PhD) in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics, electrical engineering or a comparable field
  • Strong skills in MATLAB/Simulink and experience with simulation-based system design
  • Solid knowledge of aerodynamics, flight control, system modeling and flight mechanics
  • Experience implementing control algorithms in real-time autopilot software
  • Good software engineering skills, especially in MATLAB and languages such as Python, C++, Rust
