About the role
- Software Application Engineer managing application development of driveline products for Japanese commercial vehicles. Coordinating project timelines and collaborating with global development teams.
Responsibilities
- Act as technical window to Japanese commercial vehicle customers, aligning with ZF global R&D.
- Lead application development and evaluation of driveline products.
- Support integration of ZF products into customer vehicle systems (Engine Control, Main Computer, Brake systems, etc.).
- Perform requirement analysis, specification consolidation, deliverables management, and validation tests.
- Evaluate functional safety, diagnostics, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Manage project timelines, vehicle testing plans, and execution.
- Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders for technical discussions and issue resolution.
- Provide technical presentations and support for new business acquisition.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of development experience in the automotive industry
- Knowledge of automotive components, preferably Powertrain
- Experience in development-related activities such as project support, application engineering, or vehicle calibration
- Software testing and CAN communication knowledge
- Familiarity with CAN tools (CANape, CANalyzer)
- Understanding of cybersecurity and functional safety standards, including UN‑R155/156, SUMS, and ISO 26262
- Strong communication, coordination, and teamwork skills
- Business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese (reading, writing, communication)
