About the role
- Junior Accountant assisting the Head of Finance in maintaining financial records and compliance. Joining a digital insurance startup in South Africa with flexible working arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly financial reporting, reconciliations, and preparation of management accounts.
- Assist in supporting documentation for payroll inputs for monthly submission/ processing
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
- Provides accounting assistance to the Finance Head to meet Vouch business needs
- Maintain accurate accounting records and spreadsheets
- Ensure compliance with internal financial processes and procedures
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation
- Support compliance with tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails
- Interface with management in various departments;
- Assist with preparing of weekly reports for Exco (Management).
- Compiles weekly, monthly & quarterly reports;
- Ad hoc financial reporting requests and tasks as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Honours will be advantageous.
- Studying towards or completed SAIPA articles will be advantageous.
- 2–4 years’ accounting experience (preferably in insurance or financial services).
- Exposure to IFRS and insurance accounting standards are beneficial
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Pastel, SAP, or similar)
- Computer Literate (MS Office, Word & Excel)
- Attention to detail and strong analytical ability.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good organizational and time-management skills
