About the role
- Laboratory Supervisor overseeing pre-analytical operations and ensuring test result precision at Loyola Medicine. Directing staff and resources to maintain operational efficiency and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shift operations, ensuring effective use of staff, equipment, space, and supplies.
- Prepare schedules, monitor productivity, and meet established turnaround times.
- Review daily work to identify and correct errors; maintain workload and QC logs.
- Assess clinical and operational needs and apply appropriate leadership to keep operations efficient.
- Serve as the primary contact for nursing and other hospital departments.
- Act as a resource for staff decision-making and problem-solving.
- Perform phlebotomy or bench-related duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience
- Science or healthcare related field
- Greater than 2 years of experience in the designated specialty or area of responsibility
- Prefer candidates who qualify under CLIA 88 as general supervisor
- Preferred: Phlebotomy certification (approved certifying agency) and/or certification as Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or laboratory discipline specific or specialty certificate (ASCP or AMT or other approved certifying agency)
- Prefer the candidate meets CLIA88 qualifications as general supervisor (high complexity testing).
