About the role

  • Director role overseeing professionals in public health programs at Toronto Public Health. Leading strategic planning to improve health outcomes and manage compliance with legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a diverse group of professionals engaged in public health programs
  • Develop or facilitate the development of multi-year divisional strategic and operating plans
  • Provide strategic leadership and exercise good judgment in the development, design, and implementation of policies and programs
  • Monitor program performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure targets are met
  • Ensure compliance with public health legislation and standards
  • Foster effective teamwork and provide resolution to controversial labour relations issues
  • Direct and hold responsibility for compliance with quality assurance and risk management standards.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline
  • Extensive senior leadership experience
  • Certification and membership in the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI) would be an asset
  • Strong track record of establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships
  • Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Familiarity with relevant government legislation
  • Extensive experience managing complex assignments and leading a diverse team.
