About the role

  • Youth Homelessness Prevention Worker supporting vulnerable young people by preventing homelessness and assisting in accessing accommodation at Torbay Council.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the wider Family Help Service by delivering interventions and activities that prevent young people from experiencing homelessness.
  • Working closely with young people and their families when homelessness is identified as a risk.
  • Collaborating with key agencies to meet young people's housing needs.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with young people and professionals.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and issues facing young people with complex needs.

Requirements

  • Ability to deal with difficult situations in a calm and sympathetic nature.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise accordingly.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Ability to engage with young people and families in a support and challenge role.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Awareness of Homelessness issues.
  • Knowledge of Housing issues.
  • Knowledge and awareness of issues facing young people with complex needs.
  • Awareness of Child Protection procedures.
