About the role
- Youth Homelessness Prevention Worker supporting vulnerable young people by preventing homelessness and assisting in accessing accommodation at Torbay Council.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the wider Family Help Service by delivering interventions and activities that prevent young people from experiencing homelessness.
- Working closely with young people and their families when homelessness is identified as a risk.
- Collaborating with key agencies to meet young people's housing needs.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with young people and professionals.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and issues facing young people with complex needs.
Requirements
- Ability to deal with difficult situations in a calm and sympathetic nature.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise accordingly.
- Good negotiation skills.
- Ability to engage with young people and families in a support and challenge role.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Awareness of Homelessness issues.
- Knowledge of Housing issues.
- Knowledge and awareness of issues facing young people with complex needs.
- Awareness of Child Protection procedures.
