About the role

  • Senior Benefits Specialist overseeing the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefits programs at Thrivent. Collaborating with various departments to ensure compliance and optimize processes.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefits programs
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Providing expert guidance to both employees and management regarding health & welfare, retirement, leaves and other benefit offerings
  • Collaborating closely with HR, payroll, and external vendors to optimize benefits processes and resolve employee inquiries
  • Supporting annual open enrollment processes and the communication of benefits changes or updates
  • Analyzing benefits data and trends to recommend improvements or cost-saving measures
  • Managing relationships with benefits vendors and carriers
  • Preparing and maintaining documentation, reports, and records related to benefits administration
  • Managing benefits audits for assigned programs and ensuring accurate payroll deductions related to benefits

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in benefits administration
  • Strong knowledge of benefits laws and regulations
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration software (preferably Workday)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Demonstrated ability to lead own work and deliver on expected outcomes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CEBS, CBP, SHRM) preferred
