About the role

  • Instructional Designer developing effective training programs and materials for Cigna's Claims Training team. Managing complex training projects and applying adult learning principles to improve operational performance.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts needs/skill gap analysis to identify opportunities to improve the performance of our operational partners, or to help prepare our operational partners for upcoming change
  • Based on needs analysis, applies adult learning theories and methodologies to propose appropriate and effective learning solutions for closing gaps and increasing skills and competencies
  • Determines measurable learning objectives for training programs
  • Designs, develops and maintains training materials and new hire curricula, working with subject matter experts/line of business
  • Produces materials for various delivery methods, including job aids, classroom, eLearning, social learning
  • Conducts train the trainer for programs developed
  • Manages highly complex training projects independently
  • Measures the effectiveness of programs and materials with level I, II, III and IV (Kirkpatrick) analysis and reports back to the business
  • Accountable for demonstrating the success of all programs
  • Identifies opportunities to improve performance of our operational partners through deep understanding of business needs and results
  • Provides consultative guidance on learning approach and plan to enable improved performance
  • Develops knowledge and skill development tools for operational employees
  • Demonstrates impact of initiatives to the business
  • Understands the business they are supporting and identifies key business priorities and needs
  • Ensures that all key stakeholders are aware of the training progress, status, and potential risks
  • Stay abreast of industry trends in the field of Learning and seeks opportunities for self-directed development

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher strongly preferred or equivalent work experience required
  • 8+ years of instructional design experience with all levels of the organization including executives and senior leaders
  • Experience designing, developing and delivering various materials including new hire training curriculums, project training, eLearning solutions and written procedures strongly preferred
  • Must have the ability to work independently and with a team
  • 5+ years’ experience supporting operational initiatives with the ability to work on multiple priorities and meet deadlines highly preferred
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills with expertise in preparing and delivering exceptional presentations and speeches with confidence, and professionalism
  • Must be detail oriented, have strong relationship building and organizational skills
  • Must have at minimum an intermediate level proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience with eLearning and graphic tools are necessary
  • Must have proficiency in the use of basic image editing tools such as Snagit
  • Must have proficiency in the use of collaboration tools such as SharePoint, Iris, myUniversity, SuccessFactors LMS preferred
  • Must have proficiency in eLearning development tools such as Articulate, Camtasia, and Vyond
  • Must have proficiency to leverage adult learning principles and instruction design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Agile Instructional Design) to build appropriate curricula to meet business / strategic objectives
