About the role

  • Senior Extrusion Equipment Engineer at Teleflex optimizing extrusion manufacturing processes and machinery. Focused on enhancing product quality, efficiency, and safety with hands-on problem solving and leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to enhance extrusion line performance, improve throughput, reduce waste (scrap), and boost overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) using Lean methodologies.
  • Responsible of the overall planning and execution of extruders, maintenance and repairs. Engage with supplier for repair and improvement projects.
  • Analyze and able to resolve process and equipment related issues using root cause analysis (RCA) to implement permanent solutions.
  • Evaluate existing equipment capabilities, recommend upgrades or modifications, and manage installation, commissioning, and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) of new machinery with the CR (change request process).
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to develop and transfer new extrusion processes and products from development to full-scale, stable production.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), process parameters, and technical documentation, and train maintenance staff including Machine Operators (MO) on equipment setup and troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical guidance, coach junior engineers, lead cross-functional project teams, and ensure all team members follow safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Responsible on Safety and Compliance of extruders and follow internal quality management system (QMS) requirements as well as external environmental, Occupational safety, and health (EHS) Act 1994 with knowledge in regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, ISO, Auditing bodies requirements on extrusion equipment).
  • Well verse in Capital Expenditure Process (CAPEX) and create credence with management team with cost reduction, improvement and technology upgrade to next level of production execution and quality improvement.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Chemical, Materials Engineering, or a related field is typically required.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of hands-on experience in extrusion engineering or a related manufacturing field, often in plastics, polymers, or medical devices.
  • Extensive understanding of extrusion processes, equipment (e.g., dies, screws), material science (polymers), process control, and statistical analysis tools (SPC, DOE).
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and data analysis tools is often preferred NOT prerequisite.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills are essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
