About the role

  • Head of Product leading digital product strategy and team collaboration at Tagesspiegel. Drives innovation and project responsibility in a dynamic media environment.

Responsibilities

  • You develop and implement the digital product strategy in close coordination with publishing management, translating company goals into clear digital initiatives and roadmaps, and defining and monitoring the relevant OKRs and KPIs
  • You lead a high-performing, agile digital team in both a functional and disciplinary capacity, promote a user-centered, collaborative way of working, and reinforce a modern, cross-team culture
  • You are responsible for the strategic roadmap and ensure that epics, initiatives, and projects are consistently implemented
  • Together with the Tech Lead, you define ambitious standards for architecture, security, performance, and technical sustainability
  • You work closely with editorial, executive management, sales, marketing, and external partners
  • You proactively identify market trends, new technologies, and opportunities for new target groups or business models

Requirements

  • Several years of experience in digital product development, ideally in the media or technology sector
  • Proven leadership experience in interdisciplinary, cross-functional teams
  • Strong technical understanding and solid experience in agile project management
  • Strong strategic thinking combined with a hands-on mentality and a high capacity for innovation
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect diverse stakeholders — from editorial and tech to management
  • Analytical mindset and confidence in working with KPIs, data-driven decision-making, and digital analytics tools
  • Understanding of modern digital business models
  • Experience in change management and in developing digital processes and structures
  • Passion for new technologies, trends, and innovative product approaches
  • Business-fluent German and English
