About the role

  • MCP Tool Developer responsible for building scalable Model Context Protocol tools for autonomous AI agents. Ensuring seamless and secure interaction of AI agents with internal and external systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain MCP servers that expose internal data and functions to LLMs.
  • Write high-quality schemas so agents understand when and how to call specific functions.
  • Implement robust auth-proxy layers to ensure agents only access authorised data.
  • Build "wrappers" around legacy systems and modern APIs.
  • Manage how data is exposed to the Model Context, balancing "signal" vs "noise".
  • Ensure development, staging, and production toolsets are stable and synced.
  • Build error-handling that provides meaningful feedback for self-correction.
  • Monitor and throttle usage to prevent runaway API costs or system strain.
  • Maintain documentation of available tools for the wider AI Ops team.

Requirements

  • Strong TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js) or Python.
  • Deep understanding of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar standards (LSP, OpenAPI/Swagger).
  • Proven experience with complex API ecosystems and auth protocols (OAuth2, JWT).
  • Proficiency in JSON-Schema and structured data formats.
