About the role

  • Discipline Manager leading a mining group to execute various technical projects at Stantec. Engaging a skilled team to enhance market profile and brand imaging in mine development.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and Mentor Developing Professionals
  • Coordinate team’s work and provide technical guidance on design approach and challenges
  • Assign qualified individuals and teams to projects
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels to suit backlog
  • Develop, maintain and implement a training program to support the professional development of team members
  • Recognize when technical problems develop and initiate guidance for corrective actions
  • Mentor team to guide their career development objectives
  • Conduct work in a safe manner and promote health and safety within the office and outside of the office while visiting clients and job sites
  • Provide technical leadership guidance to the team, and perform a variety of tasks to plan, execute and deliver
  • Plan, organize, and manage the team’s production of project deliverables to ensure on time delivery, technical quality, and within budget
  • Lead and assist with development of technical approaches, deliverables and methodology for proposals, budgets, and schedules
  • Develop positive relationships with clients, earn their confidence and become their trusted adviser
  • Identify the skill and expertise gaps to meet the current and future market opportunities and support suitable recruitment or development actions to address them.

Requirements

  • Skilled leader and team player capable of building relationships both internally and externally
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, business writing, electronic communications, and presentations
  • Skilled at inspiring, motivating, and holding team accountable for delivery of innovative design solutions
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to make timely decisions and develop others to do so
  • Technical experience in the design and construction of mines in multi-disciplinary avenues
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel and Powerpoint
  • Ability to develop unique design solutions to fit our clients’ needs with a sound understanding of overall goals, objectives, and costs to our clients
  • Open mindedness to learn new aspects of the mining industry and applicable technologies
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma related to the underground mining field
  • Valid Class G' Driver's license in the Province of Ontario
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in mining.
