About the role
- Transportation Engineer providing engineering expertise on highway projects for Stanley Consultants. Involves managing roadway studies, design, and preparation of construction documents in Chicago, IL.
Responsibilities
- Perform plan development activities for a comprehensive range of transportation design projects such as horizontal and vertical geometry, cross sections, earthwork modeling, 3D roadway modeling, quantities calculations, construction specifications, and utility coordination.
- Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, environmental studies, and designs for projects.
- Evaluate need for design changes and makes appropriate recommendations.
- Adhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual.
- Submit documents to federal, state, and local agencies for code compliance review and obtain permits when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with Illinois Department of Transportation and Illinois Tollway design requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of project team to complete tasks.
- Working knowledge of roadway design software used to prepare engineering and design documents including Open Roads Designer (ORD).
- Knowledge of virtual collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Teams.
- Experienced in and fully capable of using the Microsoft software suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Proven communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
