About the role

  • HR Manager overseeing human resources for Spartech LLC's network of manufacturing facilities. Leading strategic HR initiatives while ensuring compliance and fostering a high-performance culture.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with Directors of Manufacturing and Plant Manager to provide Human Resources oversight for multiple locations across Spartech’s network of manufacturing facilities.
  • Manages complex responsibility for specific areas including but not limited to labor negotiations/contract administration, areas outside of human resources (i.e., EH&S), etc.
  • Participates on a business unit management team, or manages multiple duties within human resources (i.e., recruitment, employee development), etc.
  • Works with the Director, Human Resources, and respective client groups to design organization structure, business process and systems that support their strategic goals.
  • Works to create a high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.
  • Guides managers in areas such as benefits, compensation, training, recruiting, workforce planning, conflict management, performance management, etc.
  • Ensures that all policies and procedures are in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and are consistently administered.
  • Responsible for operational human resource issues including job description development, hiring, retention, succession planning, legal compliance, termination reviews, transfers, and communications.
  • Oversees human resources responsibility for all assigned business unit teams and shared service functions.
  • Implements short and long terms plans to ensure performance and innovation within Spartech’s Human Resources department.
  • Proactively suggests and promotes processes that have positive return on investment and deliver value to internal and external customers.
  • Monitors key metrics (i.e., turnover, attendance, etc.) to assist the location and/or functional area in effectively managing their workforce to maximize productivity and overall effectiveness.
  • Demonstrates solid business acumen and ability to make HR decisions that ensure a positive impact on the bottom line.
  • Creates a motivational environment of accountability.
  • Fosters teamwork at all levels and cross-functionally.
  • Acts as a catalyst for change with the ability to positively influence others to make difficult decisions.
  • Job duties require interaction and presentations with VP/GMs or Sr. VPs -- must be able to interact with the highest levels within the company.
  • Performs other projects as required by the business, functional unit and/or HR organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or otherwise required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of human resources experience in a manufacturing environment; union experience helpful.
  • Experience with ADP (WorkForce Now) and Enhanced E-time - preferred.
  • Experience in multiple disciplines human resources – preferred.
  • Previous payroll/benefits experience helpful.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to professionally present their point of view in varied business situations.
  • Must possess consultative style and approach with proven ability to develop credible relationships with business partners.
  • Innovative mindset identifying new ways to solve work problems resulting in unique/differentiated solutions.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects with overlapping tasks and.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaborate with and lead teams.
  • Highly organized with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to understand the business operations from both a strategic and tactical perspective.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels and types of internal and external employees and business associates.
  • Ability to develop and present information formally and informally, and appropriately respond to questions and issues from internal or external contacts.
  • Some travel is required.
  • Ability to work with others and cross functional boundaries.
  • Solid analytical and critical thinking skills; good organizational skills.
