Embedded Hardware Design Engineer designing and validating electronics and firmware for medical devices. Collaborating across teams to ensure compliance with medical device standards.
Responsibilities
Architect, design, and validate embedded electronics and firmware for regulated medical devices.
Drive end-to-end development from feasibility and architecture through design controls, verification/validation, and transfer to manufacturing.
Ensure compliance with applicable medical device standards and internal quality systems.
Design and develop electronic circuits and hardware as part of embedded electro-mechanical systems.
Develop, optimize, and test firmware to control embedded systems and microcontrollers.
Select, design, and implement interfaces for sensors, pumps, actuators, communications modules, and user interfaces.
Create and edit schematics and PCBs using Allegro and/or Altium toolsets.
Integrate and debug embedded software during product development and system bring-up.
Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver projects from prototype through commercialization.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
5+ years in medical devices or another regulated industry.
Strong working knowledge of serial interfaces/protocols (RS-232, I2C, SPI).
Hands-on bring-up/integration/debug of embedded HW/SW; comfortable with soldering/prototyping and lab troubleshooting.
Proficient with electronic test equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, power supply) and producing solid technical documentation (schematics, PCB/BOM, etc.).
Experience with EMC/EMI, ARM Cortex (register-level), and contributing to C/C++ development.
