Senior Mechanical Engineer leading mechanical engineering design for detailed engineering projects at BESTECH. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and managing smaller projects in a hybrid setting.
Responsibilities
Playing a leadership role within a multi-discipline team to provide mechanical engineering design for detailed engineering projects
Leading design activities, maintaining project schedules and ensuring successful project completion
Utilize mechanical engineering expertise, act as a resource for industry codes, standards, and construction methods
Contribute to the expansion of the existing mechanical team and practice at BESTECH
Lead and manage the design and analysis of mechanical systems including underground and surface mining infrastructure and various types of mechanical equipment
Develop and review mechanical engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports
Lead site visits for assessments, data collection, and provide recommendations for remedial action
Collaborate with engineers and project stakeholders to develop comprehensive mechanical design solutions that meet project requirements
Participate in project meetings, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams
Manage smaller mechanical and multi-discipline projects
Assist in the preparation of project proposals and maintain effective communication with clients and contractors
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior/intermediate engineers
Requirements
Bachelor degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation, registered with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), or equivalent in Canada
Minimum 10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
Extensive knowledge of engineering standards, codes, and guidelines with strong industrial experience
Extensive computer knowledge in industry applications, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD and MicroStation
Must have strong project management skills and experience in leading projects
Knowledge and experience in the following areas is considered an asset: Pumping systems, ASME B31 pressure piping systems, Underground dewatering and backfill systems, Underground mine infrastructure, Industrial HVAC, Conveyor and material handling systems, Compressed air systems, Other industrial mechanical systems, Construction support and on-site commissioning
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with exceptional report writing skills
Able to work independently and in a team environment to meet tight deadlines
Willingness to travel, if required, and attend meetings and field visits on client sites
Valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle is required.
