About the role

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain a large-scale distributed database environment
- Lead infrastructure initiatives including RDS account migrations, major version upgrades, and capacity planning
- Identify and diagnose complex performance issues through proactive monitoring, query analysis, and system-level tuning
- Develop automation and Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform for database provisioning, patching, and migrations
- Architect high-availability and disaster recovery solutions
- Mentor junior engineers and lead technical design reviews
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL in production environments
- Extensive experience with AWS RDS including Multi-AZ deployments and read replicas
- Strong proficiency with Terraform and automation scripting (Python, Bash)
- Knowledge of database proxies and connection pooling (RDS Proxy)
- Strong Linux fundamentals and experience with monitoring and alerting systems
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Leadership experience mentoring engineers and driving technical initiatives
