About the role
- Flight Operations Engineer at Pratt & Whitney developing in-flight engine operation procedures. Collaborating with airline customers, providing operational support and conducting engineering studies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Operating Instructions for in-flight engine operation
- Support resolution of issues related to in-flight engine operation
- Coordinate issues with airframe manufacturer’s Flight Operations groups
- Identify, recommend and evaluate changes to in-flight operational procedures
- Respond to airline customer and airframe manufacturer inquiries regarding in-flight engine operation
- Conduct meetings to provide engine operational information to airline pilots and/or flight operations personnel
- Conduct line rides or flight audits by recording data and observing procedures in the cockpit
- Support resolution of major aircraft events
- Create and deliver effective presentations regarding in-flight procedures of interest to flight crews and other technical personnel
- Perform engine/aircraft engineering studies and report results
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- 8+ years of engineering experience or 5+ years with an advanced degree
- Private Pilot license is required
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Ability to travel worldwide (~10%), sometimes on short notice
- 5 years of engine related technical experience preferred
- Familiar with engine systems and engine performance as well as PW engine models
- Engine performance and operability engineering analysis skills highly recommended
- MS Office skills and Airline Transport Pilot license is preferred
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Ability to prepare high quality written work and verbalize technical concepts effectively
