Family Support Specialist providing parenting education and resources to families based on identified needs. Position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and flexible hours including travel.
Responsibilities
Provide short term, time-limited coordination of services, parenting skills curriculum and resources to all assigned families based on the needs, concerns and stressors of the child(ren) and the family
Meet with families based on contract requirements and their needs (weekly) to address and resolve issues or concerns, using evidence-based curriculum
Accepts responsibility for cases assigned and takes initiative on helping families with community resources
Works collaboratively with the team (RISE staff and ADCS staff) to support and assist the family in reaching positive outcomes
Ensure contract timelines are met including weekly progress notes, and all other assigned tasks
Be flexible to meet the needs of the families served, including evenings and weekends
Extensive travel around the assigned county or metro area is required
Requirements
a minimum of an Bachelor's Degree
related work experience working with family dynamics
education and/or experience related to the service provided
ability to relate to families of varied lifestyles, backgrounds, and ethnicities
experience with cultural diversity; assessing a family’s strengths and weaknesses
knowledge of child abuse, domestic violence, neglect and child development
expectations of children, parent-child family roles, non-violent discipline
working knowledge of the Department of Child Safety
verbal and written communication skills adequate to the specific job task required
ability to communicate effectively in individual or group situations
ability to read and interpret written information
knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Google Suite
reliable transportation that passes RISE random vehicle inspections
valid car insurance and registration
valid Arizona driver's license
