About the role

  • Experienced JavaScript Developer involved in the full software development lifecycle for video game projects. Joining a collaborative team to build and maintain web applications and APIs for gaming needs.

Responsibilities

  • For 30 years we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.
  • **We are seeking an experienced Experienced JavaScript Developer (Full Stack) to join our Code team, to help build and support internal and external web applications and APIs to support our game engine team.**
  • The successful candidate will join a small team and user their specialist JavaScript knowledge to be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and system design to implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance. You will be working on building internal tools as well as public facing APIs.
  • This is primarily a back-end role but we are looking for someone who has experience with both front-end and back-end languages, development frameworks, and third-party libraries. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator in order to help other teams fix bugs and resolve issues.

  • Produce performant and well documented code.
  • Successfully develop deploy new tools to support our game teams.
  • Responsive to bugs and issues as they arise and providing speedy resolution.
  • **Responsibilities**:
  • Design, build and deploy web applications to support our in-house engine team.
  • Maintain and improve existing tools.
  • Develop integrations with third party APIs.
  • Support our application deployments.
  • Communicating with other teams.

Requirements

  • Experience with NodeJS, Javascript and TypeScript.
  • A knowledge of front end frameworks like Vue and React.
  • Experience with databases such as MySQL and no SQL database.
  • Familiarity with AWS or equivalent cloud environments.
  • Experience with software development tools and version control systems (Git/Perforce desirable).
  • Demonstrated capacity to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Comfortable modifying/maintaining applications written in other languages (such as PHP) is desirable.
  • Experience writing serverless functions (AWS Lambda/Azure Functions) is a bonus.
