About the role

  • Personnel Security Specialist conducting intake tasks for DHS Federal Protective Service. Handling background investigations and managing security document processes for contractor applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Complete personnel security suitability intake tasks in support of DHS Federal Protective Service
  • Initiate background investigations
  • Manage receipt of security documents submitted by contractor applicants
  • Conduct fingerprinting procedures
  • Verify the appropriate level of background investigation is requested
  • Ensure all documents required for suitability processing are complete and included in the case file
  • Prepare, submit, monitor, and update computer tracking systems related to case material
  • Apply incident management, problem-solving, and task performance skills
  • Participate in special projects as assigned
  • Perform additional duties as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Relevant experience includes work within one or more security and/or intelligence fields
  • Subject matter expertise and hands-on experience in one or more security and/or intelligence disciplines preferred
  • Must be highly organized with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with ISMS, eQIP, CVS, and/or DISS is preferred but not required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
