About the role

  • Purchasing Manager overseeing material procurement and supplier performance at Prolec‑GE Waukesha. Leading a team focused on cost, quality, delivery, and inventory management to support manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of sourcing analysts.
  • Utilize dashboards, KPIs, and scorecards to measure and improve purchasing performance.
  • Serve as initial escalation point for pricing, terms, and delivery issues.
  • Review and resolve project-level material shortages to support production schedules.
  • Analyze SAP MRP data, create purchase orders, and expedite materials as needed.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, rebates, and cost‑saving opportunities with suppliers.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Engineering to optimize SAP material parameters and ensure lowest total cost of ownership (safety stock, reorder points, minimum buys, etc.).
  • Coach analysts to develop optimal material flow paths from supplier to point-of-use to drive efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and cost; manage corrective actions as needed.
  • Approve and correct invoices; drive resolution for non-conforming materials assuring adjustments and credits are processed.
  • Design and implement sourcing strategies targeting cost reduction, quality improvement, and inventory reduction.
  • Work cross‑functionally to develop suppliers with systems to support quick development, low cost and high quality.
  • Interpret and protect confidential data, applying strong analytical and strategic thinking to execute key initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Materials Management, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in purchasing, materials management, and sourcing systems to support the manufacture of highly technical, engineered to order products.
  • Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Proven ability to analyze material needs, supplier performance, and financial impacts.
  • Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning, analytical, and KPI management abilities.
  • Master’s degree in Business or a technical field. (Preferred)
  • SAP super‑user experience. (Preferred)
  • Experience managing supplier scorecards and measurable improvements. (Preferred)
  • Certifications: APICS CPIM/CSCP, CPM, Six Sigma. (Preferred)
