About the role

  • Cost Improvement Consultant supporting NHS transformation consultancy in Crewe and remote. Driving delivery support and capability improvement in healthcare transformation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Drive hands-on delivery support for NHS project
  • Accelerate existing transformation opportunities into delivery-ready plans
  • Focus on improvements and building internal capability rather than creating dependency
  • Deliver support across UEC, planned care, diagnostics, and frailty pathways.

Requirements

  • An independent consultant
  • Financial & CIP (Cost Improvement Programme) expertise: CIP development/delivery
  • Operational improvement: Lean methodology, patient flow, pathway redesign, A3 methodology, quick wins identification
  • Clinical service areas (one or more): UEC/ED/patient flow, planned care/outpatients/theatres, diagnostics, workforce optimisation
  • Programme management: PID development, delivery planning, workstream management
  • Analytical skills: Strong Excel, data-driven insights, performance diagnostics
  • Capability building: Coaching mindset, knowledge transfer to Trust teams, and sustainability focus
  • Ideally acute NHS provider experience or relevant consulting experience, with understanding of operational structures and performance metrics.
