About the role

  • Portfolio Management Analyst developing strategies for energy procurement while managing structured energy transactions at PG&E. Involves negotiation and execution of purchase agreements with a focus on compliance and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Autonomously develops and executes plans and processes to accomplish Structured Energy Transactions’ goals, including preserving reliability and procuring least-cost resources.
  • Recognized as a person having the advanced knowledge and subject matter expertise on one or more topics highly relevant to Energy Procurement and Structured Energy Transactions.
  • Owns and manages transactions, plans, or Structured Energy Transactions processes from start to finish.
  • Originate and execute purchase and sales agreements, including innovative product offerings through complex solicitations.
  • Develop, manage, and negotiate wholesale power sales and procurement activities across a range of electric products.
  • Evaluate moderately complex power procurement contracts, synthesize key deal points, and communicate strategic insights to senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in a business-related field, mathematics, engineering, or a comparable area; or equivalent experience
  • 6 years of relevant professional experience
  • Master’s degree (desired)
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in wholesale supply, development, or strategy/policy within the energy industry
  • Strong understanding of procurement requirements for the Company’s wholesale energy portfolio and their impact on competitive positioning, as well as relevant rules and regulations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of energy contract provisions, typical counterparty considerations, and the implications of specific contractual language
  • Proven leadership abilities with a track record of developing new procurement products and contract documents
  • Direct experience with CAISO products, market operations, and settlement processes
  • Exceptional project management expertise
  • Advanced skill with MS Office Suite
  • Programming capability, particularly in Python or VBA
  • Experience with BI tools and Analytics Technologies (e.g. PowerBI preferred, Tableau, Looker)
  • Knowledge of energy contract provisions, typical counterparty considerations, and the implications of specific contractual language
  • Knowledge of electric system operations or resource planning
  • Expertise in presenting complex data and findings to varied audiences; leading Company development initiatives; and representing Energy Transactions in discussions related to electric procurement issues
  • Understanding of organizational structures, decision-making frameworks, and governance procedures related to commercial procurement
  • Ability to influence senior decision-makers
  • Skilled in managing cross-functional projects and organizational initiatives
  • Strong analytical capabilities for addressing complex issues and recommending solutions even when operating with limited information and time constraints

  • Demonstrated focus on quality, operational efficiency, and continuous process improvement
