About the role

  • Assistant Director overseeing Pre-College Programs providing support to first-generation, low-income high school students. Managing operations, team members, and student recruitment efforts in Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily team operations to ensure all programming aligns with project objectives
  • Lead team meetings as needed
  • Assist with expense tracking and budget monitoring in coordination with the Program Director
  • Support completion of the Annual Progress Report by ensuring accurate data entry and verification
  • Ensure programming, publications, and part-time staff reflect positively on the organization
  • Maintain clean and accurate data in the student database and support all required grant recordkeeping
  • Produce program reports as needed
  • Maintain accurate participant records
  • Complete expense requests and track time and effort
  • Train and supervise part-time College Access Advisors and Office Assistants
  • Provide daily oversight of the After School Program to ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Lead planning for field trips to colleges, universities, cultural locations, and hands-on STEM activities
  • Support successful postsecondary matriculation by assisting students individually with FAFSA, college applications, and scholarship applications
  • Direct and coordinate student recruitment efforts at target schools
  • Review student applications and recommend selections to the Project Director
  • Ensure program evaluation data is collected for field trips, events, and other program services
  • Assist with annual planning for both Summer and Academic Year programming

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or a related field
  • Three years of experience working with disadvantaged youth in educational settings
  • Proficient knowledge of college-entry processes, including FAFSA, scholarship essay writing, and degree planning
  • Strong ability to manage details, plan and execute program events, and oversee complex tasks
  • High proficiency in technology, including social media
