About the role
- Chief Engineer responsible for maintaining the hotel’s engineering and safety standards. Ensuring guest satisfaction through efficient maintenance operations and collaboration with staff teams.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all aspects of the hotel’s engineering are kept to the very best standards
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs or make recommendations for repairs
- Maintain a clean and organized environment in the maintenance room
- Ensure the hotel meets / exceeds Opal and Brand quality standards
- Prioritize and complete work orders from guests and hotel team members
- Perform maintenance functions in a safe manner and without jeopardizing health, safety or security
- Work closely with Front office staff and housekeeping department
- Satisfy all guest requests / work orders in accordance with Opal training and standards
- Effectively control and manage engineering operational expenses
Requirements
- High school diploma or related vocational training
- At least 1 year maintenance experience (preferably at a hotel)
- Must be able to lift heavy objects
- Must speak fluent English (other languages such as Spanish preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC / PTAC units, plumbing, electrical, and general carpentry (tile, carpet, sheet rock, etc.)
- CPO certification – if the hotel has a pool, a Certified Pool Operator license would be ideal
