About the role

  • Chief Engineer responsible for maintaining the hotel’s engineering and safety standards. Ensuring guest satisfaction through efficient maintenance operations and collaboration with staff teams.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all aspects of the hotel’s engineering are kept to the very best standards
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repairs or make recommendations for repairs
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment in the maintenance room
  • Ensure the hotel meets / exceeds Opal and Brand quality standards
  • Prioritize and complete work orders from guests and hotel team members
  • Perform maintenance functions in a safe manner and without jeopardizing health, safety or security
  • Work closely with Front office staff and housekeeping department
  • Satisfy all guest requests / work orders in accordance with Opal training and standards
  • Effectively control and manage engineering operational expenses

Requirements

  • High school diploma or related vocational training
  • At least 1 year maintenance experience (preferably at a hotel)
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects
  • Must speak fluent English (other languages such as Spanish preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC / PTAC units, plumbing, electrical, and general carpentry (tile, carpet, sheet rock, etc.)
  • CPO certification – if the hotel has a pool, a Certified Pool Operator license would be ideal
