Crisis Residential Unit Director overseeing operations and clinical guidance for a 16-bed crisis center in Pontiac, MI. Ensuring compliance with safety standards and managing multidisciplinary staff.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily, 24-hour operations of the 16 bed Crisis Residential Unit and ensure compliance with licensing, safety, and agency standards.
Coordinate 24-hour operations, including ensuring adequate staff coverage
Provide clinical oversight to support effective crisis stabilization, treatment planning, and safe transitions.
Participate in the hiring of new staff members to fill vacancies.
Supervise, train, and support multidisciplinary staff, ensuring their duties are being performed per their job description.
Develop and lead training to address barriers and gaps in knowledge, and to ensure staff stay up to date with new information and policy updates.
Provide annual staff evaluations and ensure staff compliance with all organizational training/certifications.
Ensure the daily active treatment occurs per the posted schedule, and barriers to completion are addressed with staff.
Assist in evaluating client’s general medical and mental health status, providing emergency assessment as needed.
Monitor program performance, documentation quality, and improvement needs, auditing and reporting on findings as required by leadership.
Coordinate with internal departments, community partners, and referral sources to promote crisis residential offerings, and engage in mutual partnerships for client outpatient supports post discharge.
Address operational issues, high ‑ risk situations, and after-hours needs as required.
Maintain cleanliness of the facility, and oversee the inventory of supplies.
Ensure staff document appropriately within the EHR and audit their work accordingly to ensure accuracy.
Provide direct services to clients as required to maintain regulatory requirements.
Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
Requirements
Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology, with full licensure required.
Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates): BLS
Recipient Right’s De-escalation training
Completion of agency-specific onboarding and crisis intervention training
Ongoing professional development in trauma-informed care and recovery coaching
Experience Requirements: Minimum of five years of leadership experience.
Minimum of five years of experience working in a crisis environment.
Preferred Experience: Experience in working with Electronic Health Record systems
Experience in customer service
Experience in crisis de-escalation
Experience working with adults with severe mental illness, substance use disorder or intellectual/developmental disabilities
Experience working with children with serious emotional disturbance
Background in recovery-oriented or trauma-informed care environments
