Responsibilities
Growing long term, sustainable relationships to drive continuous improvement in safety culture, performance and systems
Member of the division leadership team
Develop, communicate and implement strategies and plans to support Nucor’s Challenge of “Becoming the World’s Safety Steel Company”
Interpret and apply regulatory and consensus standards
Build, facilitate and maintain effective Safety & Health processes, management systems and training that drives hazard recognition and prevention
Responsible for leading growth and development of teammates in the Safety and Health Department
Assisting in incident investigations
Track/review safety data and use analytical tools to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
Build consistency across multiple departments
Requirements
Minimum 3 years safety & health experience as a safety professional in an industrial setting or steel industry experience
Occupational Safety - Using knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, strategies, and judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws and regulations to promote standards as well as working to continuously improve processes to ensure safety of all teammates.

OSHA VPP experience
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health or related field
