About the role

  • Therapeutic Area Strategy Head leading a team in creating holistic portfolio strategies for Novartis. Focusing on cardio-renal-metabolic innovations and managing cross-functional collaborations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a therapeutic area focused team in the creation and update of a holistic and aligned Enterprise portfolio strategy
  • Build and maintain in-depth knowledge of the therapeutic area including disease models
  • Provide insight within key portfolio governance processes
  • Support identification of growth accretive opportunities
  • Coach, attract, develop, and retain top talents
  • Manage TA strategy financial budget including forecasting resource needs and costs

Requirements

  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in life science/healthcare required
  • Cardiologist training highly desirable
  • Minimum 10 years of pharmaceutical/biotech experience
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to comfortably engage with C-suite and mid-career associates
  • Strong financial and business acumen with a strong understanding of the biopharma landscape
  • Strong strategic vision and excellent communication skills
  • Experience leading and managing a team
